The header Military Time has a camouflage style filling.

How military time works

2000

20 hundred hours is 8:00 PM

Hours

The first 2 digits are the hour of a 24-hour day.

This means if it is after 12 noon, you need to subtract 12 hours to get the PM time.

Minutes

The second 2 digits are the number of minutes past the hour.

Where it is exactly on the hour, hundred is spoken to denote 00, meaning no minutes.

Pronunciation

Numbers are often exaggerated so they can be heard better over a crackling radio.
For example, nine may be pronounced niner.

Time zone

If there is a letter after the numbers, that tells the time zone.

Examples

Here are some example times spoken in different ways, getting more complicated towards the bottom of the list.
